OUR STORY

Protecting Land,
Restoring Purpose.

Wina began as a family property on the banks of the West Lunga River in northwestern Zambia — a remote corner of the country that most people never reach. What started as a personal commitment to protect a remarkable landscape — one that holds three generations of family memories — has grown into something larger: a working conservation sanctuary, a community partner, and a place that quietly asks the question every visitor eventually finds themselves asking — why is it that places this good are so rarely protected?

We are not a large organisation. We do not have a big team or a corporate structure. What we have is a deep attachment to this particular piece of land and, having watched the forests around us disappear, a clear-eyed belief that protecting it matters — for the species that depend on it, for the communities that live alongside it, and for the kind of Africa we want to exist in the future.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Conservation is
not solitary work.

We believe the natural world is not a resource to be consumed, but a living system to be respected. That belief shapes every decision we make — from how we build accommodation to how we engage with neighbouring communities.

Conservation succeeds only when the people who share a landscape are genuinely partners in it. At Wina, community involvement is not a programme. It is how we work.

We also believe that meaningful travel — the kind that leaves both visitor and place better for the encounter — is possible. Wina is an attempt to make that real.

OUR MISSION

What we are here to do.

1

Protect and restore land and biodiversity in the West Lunga River ecosystem.

2

Enable low-impact, meaningful travel that contributes directly to conservation.

3

Invest in community-led conservation education and long-term partnership.

Some places are discovered. Some are remembered. Wina is felt.
